Manufacturers will now have to offer handles with mechanical unlocking, even if the flush design is still allowed. A grip space of at least 60 mm x 20 mm x 25 mm is also required to facilitate manual opening. Inside, the handles must be located less than 300 mm from the edge of the door to be easily accessible in an emergency.
Tesla, known for its lever handles activating electronic unlocking, will have to modify its models to comply with the new standards.
